The enemy works in cunning ways, not always in horns and fire. He can mimic virtue, drape himself in the cloth of righteousness, and whisper sweet lies in the guise of truth. Remember, even angels can fall. So how do we tell the church from the synagogue, the wheat from the chaff?
Firstly, we look to the fruit. A true church bears the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Does the congregation spread love or sow division? Does it offer comfort or fuel fear? Does it lead to humility or inflate pride? This, my friends, is the harvest we must judge.
