Several years ago, one of my sons in the Lord who is highly educated became born again, but continued in his cigarette smoking habit. I got to know about it and called him to discuss how God could deliver him completely. To my surprise, he said it wasn’t an issue and that what mattered was that he was born again.

He went further to say that the Bible never said Thou shall not smoke. I invited him over and he came visiting with his wife. We decided to do a study on 1 Samuel 17:38-40 , where David picked five smooth stones when he went to battle with Goliath. I then told him that there are different kinds of stones – stones that can kill a dog, goat or any other type of creature but the stones that could kill a giant must be the very smooth ones. I also let him know that if he wanted God to use him to achieve His divine purpose on earth, he must become a smooth stone. That same day, he stopped smoking forever.

If you want to be used by God mightily, you must surrender all to Him and allow Him chisel you so that you can be a smooth stone like Jesus Christ.
