TOPIC: Gifts Of The Holy Spirit (III)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 35, Numbers 36:1-12, Luke 9:28-56, Psalm 40:9-17

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 25:19-30 (KJV)

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

MFM Daily Devotional 2nd April, 2022 | Dr. D.K Olukoya

In 1 Corinthians 12:8-11, the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit are enumerated. These nine gifts are classified into three major categories namely: the Revelation gifts, the Inspiration gifts and the Power gifts. The Revelation gifts are word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and the discerning of spirits. These reveal information. The Inspiration gifts are gift of prophecy, diverse kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues. These inspire communication. The Power gifts are gift of faith, gift of healing and gift of miracles. These ones are for signs, wonders and working of miracles.

I want you to understand that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given by God as He wills. No man can choose what he wants. He gives you what He wants you to have for His own purpose. The Bible says that there are diversities of gifts, differences of administrations and diversities of operations but the same Spirit. These gifts are given to serve God, to accomplish things and for common good and profit (1 Corinthians 12;4-7).

Remember what happened in the case of Moses and Aaron. When Moses complained that he was not capable due to his speech impairment. God said, He would make Aaron his mouthpiece. You would wonder why God didn’t simply give the assignment to Aaron (Exodus 4:10-16). But He is God and knows best.

Beloved, the question is: what is your own gift? Have you discovered the gift of God in your life? If your answer is yes, what have you done or are you doing with it? These gifts are given for work, and not for play. At the end of the day, there are rewards but you must give account first of your work before the reward is given. Revelation 22:12 says, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” I encourage you to pray, identify God’s gift in your life and put them to good use to serve God, His Kingdom and mankind. God bless you as you heed this piece of advice, in Jesus’ name.
